When you read the list of what we photograph you are probably thinking they are all very different but not really. We like to blur the lines between different types of sessions you can choose from. Really it is all about you and capturing the best images no matter what session type. Weddings and lifestyle use photo journalism to capture the day and are generally the least posed. The other session types are generally more styled and posed. We like to think of the sessions we do as really 3 types (real, styled and fine art).
Real – Photo journalism capturing you with the least amount of posing. Think of this as a way of capturing the moment authentically. This is how a wedding is normally photographed and is also how we do lifestyle photography. None of the work looks cheesy at all even if it is capturing a fun moment. We can go into your home, business, venue, outdoors, studio or anywhere really to capture images you will LOVE.
Styled – This is where the environment is staged specifically for the images. More work goes into styled clothing choices to match the environment. In styled sessions people are photographed from a photo journalistic point of view where it looks real all the way through to extensive posing in order to capture the mood and images desired. We can do all of our sessions like this including weddings. Today more and more couples are eloping or wanting an intimate wedding. A styled session is perfect for this because we can shoot specifically for the images you want in an album. We can do styled session with a theme. Think of what it would be like to put a teepee on the beach or go to a carnival to get married. Can you see all the fun colors, cotton candy, riding rides and how that would look in your heirloom album?
Fine Art – A fine art session is a styled session where all the details been planned. The way of capturing the images desired is planned. This type of session sometimes requires multiple sessions in order to get the desired art piece you want. An good example to help you understand would be wanting a large framed fine art piece of your child riding a giraffe, holding balloons with mountains and your home in the background. This would entail bringing you child into the studio or outdoors and posing on something to simulate sitting on a giraffe. The second session behind the scenes at the zoo. A third session to capture balloons unless that was captured during the child session. A fourth session standing in front of your home or whatever house you desire. Then all of the elements are artistically brought together to create the art piece.
We offer this as another service to our clients during their real or styled session. Sometimes an image just screams at Cathy to work it into a piece worthy for a gallery or for competition. If you have signed a model release she will backup the images to work on at a later time. If an image gets worked on for gallery and you want a copy she can offer what is called an artists proof to you for personal use.
